(~: Anime is made at night :~)
:::March 20, 2003:::
"Aim
For the Ace!(Ace wo nerae,1973)" is one of the most loved
and well known anime series in Japan. The most famous character in
this series is the tall and elegant student with the "O Chou
Fujin(Madam Butterfly, real name is Reika Ryuzaki)". "Chou"
in Japanese means "butterfly" and is pronounced just like
a different Chinese character that means "Intestinal". That
is why we have this elegant beauty on the bottle in the picture. A
beverage
company released bottled prune juice by using "Ochoufujin"
as the image character. But, they replace "chou" with the
Chinese character of "Intestinal" to name this drink for
fiber in prune is good for stomach. This "Ochoufujin(Madam Intestinal)"
healthy drink is targeting at female market in Japan. Even so, I gave
it a tried with animators in AIC...Reika Ryuzaki's hairstyle was the
center of our chatting...how come her rich long curled hair never
bothered her while she plays tennis?..you know, some guys-will-never-get-the-clue
things.>:-)(BBS_M)
:::March 10, 2003:::

This was a very normal Monday afternoon in Tokyo and as usual, I stepped
in to the train heading for AIC. While I was enjoying some cheery
blossoms on the outside, I noticed something very weird in the train.
I looked up and realized that the whole commuting train is occupied
by...Stitch!?!? Each train consists of 10 or 12 cars and EACH and
EVERY (literally) ad poster in all those cars featured that little
blue alien and the Hawaiian girl. I have never seen anything quite
like this so I took a picture of it and couldn't help but wonder,
how long will it takes until distributors will do things like this
to promote anime in Japan or US?

A
former AIC worker's personal interest is making anime music videos.
Last weekend he invited me to a dance party which had his work on
screen. According to what he said, there are a lot of anime music
dance parties or cosplay gatherings in Tokyo during every weekend
and there are lots people making music videos nationwide. Fan made
music videos in Japan are called "Mad movie". Somewhat different from
music videos in anime conventions, most of "Mad movie" are just the
opening animation with different theme songs. Like using the Sailor
Moon opening with the Fruits Basket theme song or the Ghost in the
Shell opening with Fatboy Slim. Therefore you have to know both anime
in order to get all the fun and jokes. The host of the party last
week is a very hard-core anime fan. Most his anime videos are way
too "elite" so that I couldn't follow his choices in anime. But being
able to know how anime fans in Japan get together is fun. >:-)(BBS_M)
