I remembered when my commuter train in Tokyo was occupied by experiment 626 (Stitch) in March and last week it was all underwater with Nemo. That movie just got into town (release on December 6) and its doing very well. When I was staring at those ad posters hanging in the train, I couldn't help but wondering why it takes so long to reach Japan (well, and vice versa as well I guess :p). Of course there is that "if it doesn't do well here, how can it do better abroad?" type of marketing issues and concerns. But why these delays with "Finding Nemo" or "Lilo and Stitch"... that's one of the mysteries of the entertainment world I just can't figure out and haven't gotten a good answer from insiders for yet. Anyway, there are lots of animation studios along the train line I'm commuting on and I wonder what those animators think of how this kind of PR will reflect on their own environment.

Some friends and I were driving from AIC to a restaurant last night. Stopping at a red traffic light, we were looking at the back door of a truck that had been in front of us for a while. Suddenly we all bursted into laughter as the "safety first" warning sign usually printed on the back door turned out to read "Queen first". We don't know who that truck driver is referring to but we were 100% sure that "queen" has nothing to do with the royal family here. The way how the two Chinese character were transformed was something that can't really happen from natural causes. So we were wondering how long it will take the truck company to notice this.
