The beginning of "Dangaioh Project"

It all begins with a mysterious case that happened somewhere in Japan in September of 1987. Ever since then, Dr. Katou and Dr. Yonamine have devoted themselves to preparations for a fight with an unknown threat from outer space. They organized and built a research institute on "Futakami" island, where they began building an earth-based Dangaioh. After many years, they succeeded in creating a prototype, but serious opposition threatened the project. Dr. Katou wanted to develop easy-to-produce unmanned Dangaioh while Dr. Yonamine would rather produce manned versions to prevent the danger of robots running wild. The committee ultimately sided with Dr. Yonamine, and Dr. Katou was expelled from the institute.


Revival of "Dangaioh project"

A few years following the expulsion of Dr. Katou, the first experimental robot was completed. Unfortunately, the experiment ended in disaster. The Dangaioh ran recklessly and exploded with the test pilot, killing or injuring most of the research staff. This incident was a huge blow to the project, but the research must continue, as the Dangaioh are the key to the future of the human race. Dr. Yonamine saves the project by rounding up new sponsors, scientists, and rebuilding a new "basement" to continue the Dangaioh project.

The new Dangaioh plans are based on suggestions made by mechanic and designer Miss Miya Shikitani. She suggested using a separate robotic system to control the integrated power. Dividing primary functions to separate components would lessen the burden on the pilot and combining three of the robots can compensate for the reduction in battle abilities. The institute chose teenagers who easily adapt to new environments and gave them a full physical and mental training regimen to ensure the pilot's physical and psychological condition were sufficient.

The research institute reorganized the Dangaioh project and decided on reconstruction. After three years of training and hard work, three pilots were chosen using the advice of Miya Shikitani. They are:

Pilot of Dangaioh B - Amagi Kuya
Pilot of Dangaioh F - Minami Mishio
Pilot of Dangaioh X - Hitomi Chidou

The new Dangaioh is born, based on this three pilot team. They beautifully won their first battle, but the project isn't finished yet. As a matter of fact, the Dangaioh Plan has just begun.. the day an unbelievable threat appeared from the depths of the planet Earth.
